INFLUENCES OF THE PHOTOGRAPHIC

Group Show // February 21 - 26 2018 // Sion Hill Gallery

I was part of a group exhibition in the Sion Hill gallery space alongside two fellow artists, Caitlin Jackson and Sophie Sweeney. As a group we had determined that our work was all heavily influenced by analogue methods of photography and photographic images, however each of us had a unique artistic practice that represented this influence. We felt that putting on an exhibition that showed all of our work together would cohesively show how, through various types of 2 Dimensional mediums, an older technique could be incorporated into contemporary artistic practice.

Together we planned, curated and installed the work into the exhibition. The works that I chose to include were 'June 67 (Purple)', 'View From This Side (Yellow)' and 'View From This Side (Crimson)'. These works I felt fit the theme as they are paintings referencing old photographic prints and seldom used 35mm photographic slides from the 1960's and 1980's.
